The Simpson For Covington campaign is proud to announce that Board Member Kareem A. Simpson has been selected to join the prestigious 2025 cohort of School Board Partners, a national network dedicated to advancing equity and excellence in education through innovative school board leadership.
School Board Partners (SBP) is a highly selective program that equips school board members with the tools, resources, and collaborative opportunities needed to champion systemic change in their communities. By fostering a network of forward-thinking leaders, SBP aims to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected for this program,” said Simpson. “As a board member, my goal has always been to advocate for equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students in our district. Joining School Board Partners will allow me to connect with like-minded leaders from across the country and bring back innovative solutions to benefit the students and families of Covington.”
Simpson has been a member of the Covington Independent Schools Board since January 2023, where he has championed initiatives such as the non-closure of Ninth District School and, this year, serves on the Board's Policy Committee, Acceptable Behavior and Discipline Committee and Equity Committee where he plans to introduce district-wide policy updates to ensure that all students have a more equitable chance for success with the end goal of expanding access to arts education, improving literacy rates, and increasing community engagement. In addition to his role on the board, Simpson serves on the Kenton County Planning Commission and is deeply involved in local efforts to drive community and economic development.
As part of the 2025 cohort, Simpson will participate in a year-long program that includes leadership development, peer collaboration, and opportunities to engage with national experts in education policy and governance. The program’s focus on equity aligns closely with Simpson’s ongoing efforts to address achievement gaps and ensure that every student has the resources they need to succeed.
